What he does

Boilers, heating,
and burst pipes.

The three things South Liverpool houses actually ring about, done by an engineer who trained on them at British Gas.

Boiler repairs

Most calls are the same handful of faults: no hot water but heating fine, pressure dropping every few days, a boiler locking out and showing a code, or a pump that has stopped.

A former British Gas engineer has seen every one of them on every make. The point of the diagnosis is to avoid replacing a part that was never the problem.

Worth mentioning when you ring

  • The make of the boiler, and roughly how old
  • Any fault code on the display
  • Whether it is heating, hot water, or both
  • Whether the pressure gauge has dropped
  • Whether it has been serviced recently
The bigger job

New central heating

A full system, or an old one replaced, installed by the same person who will come back if anything needs adjusting.

New boiler

Old for new, including the flue, the condensate and making good where the last one sat.

Full system

Boiler, pipework, radiators and controls, put in as one job rather than three visits from three trades.

Radiators

Added, moved, swapped for a bigger one, or taken off for decorating.

Controls

Thermostats, timers and valves, so the system actually does what the dial says.

Plumbing

Burst pipes

If a pipe has gone

  • Turn the stopcock off first, then ring
  • Put the immersion and boiler off if water is near either
  • A photograph of where it is coming from helps
  • Say if it is above a ceiling, that changes the job

A burst pipe is not a job that waits for a diary slot, and it is the one where a local number beats a national booking line by hours.

Alongside it: leaking radiators and valves, tanks, cylinders, overflows and the general plumbing that comes with older housing.

Prices

What does it cost?

Placeholder — needs your figures

No rates are published anywhere for this business, and nothing is guessed at here. Send whichever of these you want shown and they go on the page:

  • A call-out or diagnosis charge
  • An hourly or day rate
  • A from-price for a boiler swap
  • Whether a new install is quoted after a visit
Placeholder — needs confirming

These also need your word before they appear anywhere:

  • Your Gas Safe registration number
  • Whether you carry public liability insurance
  • Which Liverpool postcodes you cover
  • Whether you do out of hours or emergency call-outs
  • Whether you offer annual services and landlord certificates
